La Guérite – D Maris Bay

Wonderful beach club set on a white sand beach with live DJ sets each day, stunning coastal views, chic design, and delicious French champagne. Service was excellent.

Unfortunately, I’ll keep going because it’s fun, but the waiters and staff truly disappointed me every single time. Every time I went with just women (with a table and a reservation), they treated us horribly. I thought about making a complaint, as their arrogance disturbed me many times and made me feel embarrassed. A waiter once came up to me and said, *"From today, you’ll be banned from La Guérite!!!"* just because I dared to pour myself a shot of tequila from my friends’ table after they had already left. They told me I was acting "shamelessly" "going around drinking from other tables", so I showed them my online transactions—where just the two of us had already spent more than 500€ at the bar and in the lounge restaurant.. we were 2 girls enjoying the ambiance and not disturbing anyone. A really nice new waiter (2024) came over and tried to calm things down and convinced the aggressive waiters to stop shouting at us. That same day, the DJ insulted a female guest on the microphone because she got a little tipsy and made a (bad) joke - she cut off the music of the dj. I mean, ok, it's bad, but how dare him, as a man, shout on the mike "catch that B**** and don’t let her in again!!!" Another time, I accidentally booked the first seating and politely asked the staff if we could stay for the party afterward if they had a table available, as we were willing to spend accordingly. I asked if the party was good (since it was May), and the response of the woman from the entrance was: *"Yes, it is, but you won’t know because you only booked the first service."* 🤣🤣🤣 my godness. I don’t know—I’ve never been treated like this anywhere in the world, and I’m sure I’ve been to 100 times more amazing places with wonderful staff than these people in this restaurant. The bartenders, however, are super nice! And the party—well, it’s the only good party in the Cannes area. hopefully they will work more to improve their hospitality or they’ll just become that commercial place that no one will want to go anymore in few years.

This restaurant has quite the atmosphere. Its location, being next to D Marin creates a reason for its existence. The food was made from quality ingredients and is fresh. Yet the price you pay is wayyyy too much for the portions of the food or the very mediocre service. (-) Also, we were not properly greeted or send off after dining. When you visit the restaurant without staying at the hotel, there are buggy’s that pick you up from the reception of the hotel and after you dine they are supposed to bring you back. Yet we were left to stupidly wait after the waiters repeatedly told us that the buggy’s would come (which they were supposed to call for them to pick us up!! >:/ )not knowing that we were supposed to be called for us. There are restaurants which offer much better quality food and service at the same price point around the same area, like Manzara restaurant in Söğüt. (+) The non alcoholic cocktails are pretty good, they have fun coloured ones made from natural ingredients like butterfly pea tea. The scallop ceviche was amazing. It had this citrusy sauce with hints of passion fruit that complimented the lean and tender meat of the scallop so well. It was a relief tasting this dish after being shocked of the delicious yet miniature size of the grilled octopus :))) On a side note, id really recommend the mint chocolate chip ice cream, it was delicioussss and made in house from what I was told and wasn’t too sugary. :) If you want a “luxury” experience while vacationing in Datça, I would recommend this place. However you must be willing to pay min of 200$ (we payed 515$ for 3 people + a bottle of wine) if you choose to dine here. Lastly; as a side note, if you’re not staying at the hotel you’ll be charged with a valet fee of 400₺.
