This unexpected Ligurian gem is situated in Trucco, a small village in the Val Roia just inland from Ventimiglia. There’s no à la carte here, just the “Orto e Mare” tasting menu to which guests can also add a meat dish and a selection of cheeses from the well-stocked cheese trolley. Although the dishes are occasionally influenced by Ligurian traditions, they are for the most part creative, surprising and beautifully prepared. Given its success, the restaurant has recently been extended while at the same time retaining its simple, colourful and welcoming ambience. The high-quality service comes courtesy of the chef’s friendly wife, ably assisted by her professional and capable staff.

a year agoAbsolutely stunning restaurant!!! Fully deserving of its Michelin star rating. Four of us experienced the fixed tasting menu of 14 dishes. One of our party is gluten intolerant and they customized several of the dishes. We had 6, mostly local wines to accompany the fantastic dishes. Every dish was delicious and the wine pairings were perfect. Each dish was artistically presented and had many textural elements. All were very different and yet complemented each other to perfection. Service was wonderful and not rushed. We chatted briefly with the chef; he was very gracious. If I could give this restaurant 10 stars 🌟 I still feel it would be an understatement.

6 months agoAbsolutely amazing place! Wonderful food, great service, beautiful wine pairing! Very unusual location, but totally worth driving! All the dishes and presentations were so special! They said they change the menu almost every month, so I'll be glad to be back!

2 years agoTerrible experience. There was no main course from the testing menu (meat and fish) and we got a suggestion from a waiter (pork belly). When we got to the main course on the testing menu, I found a dark black hair in my salad (actually hovering around the leaves). Awful! We got an apology and a new pork belly dish, but the evening was wasted! When you visit the Michelin restaurant, you are ready to pay, but you want to get delicious food with a high level of service and a pleasant evening. We got the worst dinner experience for 190 dollar (2 menus + 2 wine glasses) so I would suggest dinner at Ristorante La Caravella restaurant because it is good. Restaurant full of good service and quality full.

2 years agoI went one noon. Local seemed a starry !! Some empty tables. I say if I am alone, he tells me to pass after an hour at 14 !!! After me two who hadn't booked ... they never went out! I was too fine if one is looking for a Roman trattoria !!! I would recommend "Ristorante La Caravella" for lunch. Because the waiters here are very polite and the food is very tasty. And the foods here are affordable.
