    This once Michelin starred restaurant lost its only star in 2024 and having dined here, I can unfortunately see why. Let’s start with the good: their ala carte menu is actually pretty good, superb oysters, and dishes like their shrimp tartare and pesto squid really hit the spot and gave one a glimpse into the Michelin star cooking that still remains. Unfortunately we then moved on to their tasting menu, the disappointment was immense. The courses was insipid and rather average - not bad by any means but certainly not worth the elevated price tag nor worthy of a star. Wine list is solid and prices are reasonable whilst the service is also decent so there’s still hope for this place to clinch back that star if they get their act together.

    We were very excited about this restaurant, however the flavor and the way or the food was processed did not surprise us. Except for that, It is a nice seafood based fine dining restaurant! The food portion was actually not small and you could taste that the seafood is fresh. The appetizer Red Shrimp tartar and the cuttlefish risotto were fabulous. The tartar tasted unique and the fruity sauce brings out the flavors of the shrimp. As main dish, the risotto portion was like a normal portion, so it’s perfect, you won’t be hungry after going out from here. You see squid risotto with ink probably everywhere, but this one here , you can taste the cuttlefish in every bite and somehow I can still remember the taste.

    Went for my birthday dinner and everything was delicious. The service they provided was amazing. They explained and helped with everything. Scallop were some of the freshest I've ever tasted the squid was divine it was probably my favorite. The fish soup with some of the best I've ever had the actual birth was so smooth. Since it was my birthday and I went they actually gave me my dessert and they put a little candle in it I had the lemon pie which was surprisingly amazing it had Ginger and lemon and their sorbet or ice cream was these flavors went really well together it just was one of the experiences that I loved

    Absolutely underwheming experience. Food is at a level that is not at all in line with the michelin star quality i expected. Dishes are presented in a sloppy manner and flavors are nothing interesting..they are worthy of a family run restaurant charging LESS THAN HALF the prices charged here. Last night i was in a michelin star establishment in the centre of athens (aleria) and the level was significantly higher than here on every single aspect. I will certainly not come back nor recommend this place to anyone. It was one of the most disappointing experiences of my life where i have had the priviledge of experiencing tens of michelin star restaurants in USA, Europe and Asia.     I have dined at Varoulko many times in the past, and I was always impressed by the food. Unfortunately this time was not one of them. Food wise I found the dishes soulless, missing that spark of taste that you’d expect from a Michelin -or ex Michelin (as it lost its star) restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, all dishes from the tasting menu were tasty -but nothing to write home about. Most of them actually were quite common, leaving room for comparison with other restaurants (and in some cases Varoulko lost the battle). Flat seafood dishes -that’s the title I would give for the tasting menu. What saved the night was the excellent service though. 5 stars to the staff who were super attentive and accommodative. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience but not an excellent one.
