Mikla’s New Anatolian Kitchen combines respect for tradition with a sense of innovation. The restaurant is an ambassador for the producers they work with, as well as for the great diversity of produce that Turkey has to offer. The chefs use only the finest ingredients (and wines!), which take pride of place in original dishes that are stripped of unnecessary fuss. Everything here revolves around the depth of the flavours, which possess a distinctive Nordic purity.
The dishes are not overly elaborate, but their complexity lies in their delicate harmonies. As an example, smoked duck breast is barbecued until medium-rare and then elevated with a symphony of nuances: red wine pepper jelly, roasted hazelnut, tangy cider syrup, a subtly sweet plum sauce with the perfect touch of umami and crisp samphire. The sense of balance is incredible! And those who avoid meat will be glad to know that Mikla always offers a vegan set menu. An adventure awaits you here and that also goes for the setting – the magnificent 360° view of Istanbul you get from the 18th floor of the Marmara Pera hotel really is the icing on the cake.

in the last weekstarry!!!!! firstly, this is the most welcomed i’ve felt in a restaurant. the service is so well-mannered and kind and attentive. truly deserving of the michelin star. the dirty martini was well made, and the white wine we had was fantastic, really light and fruity. the complementary crudités and bread were unbelievable. particularly the little sardine crisp! and i’m telling you, i really dont like olive oil, but this Turkish olive oil with the bread, i fell in love with. i could drink it pure. for a starter, the lamb’s heart was spectacular. soft and tender and the purée was sweet and nutty, reminiscent of all things good. the dry aged beef as a main was crazy. so much juicy meat, spectacularly flavourful just by good cooking. i did miss some flaky salt on it but the well-seasoned sides compensated. i think the kale was so good and crispy and i’m a sucker for layered crispy potatoes. for dessert i highly recommend the bitter chocolate! like a nice elongated dark praline with a tangy cherry-berry sorbet. yum. overall, great date night spot, and terribly delicious. the cocktail list is so long and its worth going just for that and some amazing Istanbul views. but also stay for a show-stopping meal!

3 weeks agoI recently had the tasting menu at the restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The Slow Cooked Beef Short Rib was particularly delectable, with its tender and melt-in-your-mouth texture. The Bolet Mushroom was also flavorful and creamy. The service was exceptional, and the city views were breathtaking. I highly recommend the tasting menu to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

2 months agoMy husband and I just had dinner at Mikla and had the best fine-dining experience on our entire 10-day visit to Istanbul. The food was absolutely beautiful and the portions were surprisingly generous, but even more so, the service was next-level. It is clear that everyone who works here is exceptionally well-trained in fine-dining service and they all made us feel so very welcomed. It was truly an unforgettable dinner service and we will surely be back on our next trip to this city of delicious food and beautiful restaurants.

4 months agoA nice fine dining restaurant with very nice views. They had enough service staffs to attend to you even when the restaurant is crowded. Being michelin starred, we came here to try on one night. Since we are just short time travellers, we did not exactly dress very well for it but luckily the staff were still nice. Had the tasting menu and a bottle of red (which were recommended by them) and it was good. The tasting menu was a little pricey but it had all the proteins you want from fish to duck to lamb. We were overfed that night! And we thought that the menu could be adjusted a little to ensure that diners still have the appetite to continue. We were already full halfway through the 7-8 course meal and probably did not really enjoy the dishes fully at the end. The dishes were actually nice, but could be better if they can play around with the ingredients a little more by cutting the quantity but add more flavors. It would be a 5 star if they could do that. Comparing to other similar restaurants we tried, I think they could do a little more given the price. I would recommend that you only choose the tasting menu if you have a big appetite or really hungry. If not, suggest to choose other options which could be actually better.
