a month agoExceptional Seafood Experience – Refined, Peaceful, and Memorable Dining at Varoulko was a true pleasure. The food was incredibly fresh, with innovative and well-executed dishes that really highlight the quality of the ingredients. Every course was a delightful surprise – creative without being overcomplicated. The service was excellent: attentive, professional, and warm without being intrusive. You really feel taken care of. The ambiance is another strong point. The view is beautiful, and even when the restaurant is full, there’s a sense of calm and privacy. You can have a proper conversation without shouting, which is becoming rare these days. It’s elegant and peaceful, the kind of place where you can truly relax and enjoy a special meal. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a refined seafood experience in Athens.

2 weeks agoVaroulko Seaside Restaurant, a restaurant with an authentic maritime flavour. It was the first fine dining restaurant in the city to serve an exclusively seafood menu and the first restaurant to be awarded a Mechlin star. Fresh seafood is what you would expect here. You can see the effort made in creativity and presentation without compromising the substance. And they charge for bread 🍞! Desserts were exceptional.

2 months agoThis once Michelin starred restaurant lost its only star in 2024 and having dined here, I can unfortunately see why. Let’s start with the good: their ala carte menu is actually pretty good, superb oysters, and dishes like their shrimp tartare and pesto squid really hit the spot and gave one a glimpse into the Michelin star cooking that still remains. Unfortunately we then moved on to their tasting menu, the disappointment was immense. The courses was insipid and rather average - not bad by any means but certainly not worth the elevated price tag nor worthy of a star. Wine list is solid and prices are reasonable whilst the service is also decent so there’s still hope for this place to clinch back that star if they get their act together.

3 weeks agoVery interesting gourmet approach to the Greek cuisine, where traditional ingredients are prepared in an innovative manner. Beautiful presentation, attentive service. Prawn tartare was the star of the show. Only slight disappointment was the grouper main course which was overcooked. Definitely a great spot for a special occasion or a date. Keep in mind that it is in a busy area that gets a lot of traffic on weekends.
