De Mondion – A restaurant on the rooftop terrace of The Xara Palace, a 17th century baroque palazzo set into the bastion fortifications of the walled city of Mdina. A gastronomic experience awaits you. The seasonal and locally grown produce is skilfully transformed and masterfully presented. The care and attention to each dish reveals the individual chefs inspirations. Mediterranean, local, sustainable and fresh, with a nod to traditional French cuisine. A contemporary wine list, with recommendations by a very capable sommelier will ensure a perfect pairing to each dish. The restaurant is further enhanced by exceptional service and breath-taking views of the island.

3 months agoThe de Mondion is an exceptional restaurant. We celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday at the restaurant where we had a stellar experience from start to finish. This high-class restaurant stands out for its elegance and welcoming atmosphere. The ambiance was warm, intimate and a remarkably beautiful space. The tasting menu offers a delicious selection of dishes, all prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The creativity is extremely clever, with layers of flavours to discover in each dish which all complemented each other perfectly. Each course was an explosion of flavours, beautifully presented and expertly prepared. The restaurant manages to combine Maltese culinary tradition with an innovative touch, thus offering a unique gastronomic experience. Even the sauces served with each dish deserve a special mention - rich, full of flavour and all so different. The staff were professional, attentive, friendly and knowledgable which added to our enjoyment of the evening and where we had impeccable service. We felt pampered, which made our evening even more memorable. It really could not have been any better! I highly recommend visiting The de Mondion if you are looking for an exceptional dining experience in Mdina.

5 months agoThe food was exquisite. The Chef brought an interesting twist in every dish. The balance between the acidity, bitterness and sweetness of each dish was well kept. I would recommend the foie gras and octopus for starters, followed by the beef for the main. The service was excellent and we were well looked after.

3 months agoA fabulous Michelin restaurant in Mdina Malta. The chefs produce amazing menus from many local produce from their own gardens and from around Malta. Catering on-the-fly for many dietary requirements; plant based, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, etc. Menus change frequently so regular visits are a must

2 months agoWe visited De Mondion last Saturday and had an unforgettable experience. Everything was exceptional — these service was impeccable, and the food was amazing from start to finish. We chose the Taste of Malta menu and absolutely loved it, especially the suckling pig, which was a true highlight. The use of local, fresh ingredients made each dish incredibly flavourful, and the attention to detail was evident in every course. The dessert brought smiles to our faces and evoked beautiful memories — the perfect ending to a truly special meal. The waitstaff were warm, friendly, and attentive, adding to the welcoming and elegant atmosphere. Overall, it was a fantastic experience from beginning to end, and we can’t wait to return!

2 months agoThe location of this restaurant in the old city is beautiful. We enjoyed the signature dish tasting menu with paring wines. We have been in several Michelin star restaurants, this restaurant is well on its way to 2 stars. We enjoyed the service, correct but not pretentious. The food is of high quality, special praze for the snails, filled pasta and the sweetbread, and desert (we wont tell, yust go and experience it) the food wine paring is verry good, the sommelier really loves his yob, what an enthousiasm! We absolutely will be coming back and recommend the restaurant to everyone.
