Very central, just a few meters from the Sanctuary and the archaeological site of Pompeii, the President restaurant is today the ideal location to get excited at the table. In the kitchen the brigade is coordinated by chef/patron Paolo Gramaglia. Laila Buondonno, Sommelier and wife of the chef, welcomes and coordinates the dining room.
The President was founded in 1991 as a family business. In 2006 Paolo took sole command of the restaurant and gave an increasingly specific characterization to his restaurant and his cuisine. The awards were not long in coming with the presence in all the most authoritative guides in the sector, both national and foreign, Michelin, Espresso, Gambero Rosso, Slow Food, Touring, Routard, Globe trotter Travel Guide, just to name a few.
The President was founded in 1993 as a family business. In 2006 Paolo took over the restaurant alone and gave an increasingly specific characterization to his restaurant and his cuisine. The recognitions were not long in coming with his presence in all the most authoritative guides in the sector, both national and foreign, Michelin, Espresso, Gambero Rosso, Slow Food, Touring, Routard, Globe trotter Travel Guide, just to name a few.
2015 was the year of the President. Paolo first obtained the hat of the Guida dell’Espresso and, then, the consecration among the greats of gastronomy, with the prestigious recognition of the Michelin Star.

7 months agoIf I could give 6 stars, I would. I spent the summer in Italy and had the pleasure of dining at six different Michelin starred restaurants. Ristorante President was an unexpected delight and was by far my favorite. We were the only couple in the restaurant the night we went, which was a pleasure for us, but a complete travesty. They deserve to be fully booked out. The food was delicious; I cannot describe how good it was. Words do not exist. Every course was wonderful and beautifully plated. The interactive elements of breaking bread the traditional ancient Pompeian way was so fun. The service was top notch. The wine pairing was generous and unique. I do not eat raw seafood or meat, and they customized the menu for me in a way that worked beautifully with my partner’s. The dessert was beautiful and while the texture was a bit one-note, the flavors were lovely. Our next trip to Pompeii will absolutely include this restaurant again.

5 months agoGreat food served with good twists. Affordable wine menu with mostly local wines. We were the only ones there for lunch so we had very attentive service.

2 weeks agoMyself, my wife and my young daughter came here recently and the food was amazing! They were so kind in accommodating my young daughter with her own special food. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. We were the only ones here which was a shame as it was so amazing. The food was great and so unique. Would definitely recommend to others to check it out.

2 years agoBeautifully furnished and decorated, the restaurant is very welcoming. Every small piece, including the music is picked with utmost attention and contributes to forming a great experience. The staff is very attentive to every need and question, made us feel extremely welcome. The food is very creative, each dish being related to local traditions. A true fine dining experience. At first, some of the courses may seem small in size, but contribute to the overall sensation of a highly satisfying degustation menu. Out of all, maybe only one meal - the pasta - was a but over-creative (as sometimes happens in such restaurants), with all the rest - the balance between art and actual food was kept perfectly. Wine pairing was absolutely great, based on local wines.

a year agoWe had the tasting menu with wine pairing. The staff was fantastic at sharing the stories about the connection of the flavours between the local ingredients and the chef’s international experience, the dishes are perfectly executed, complex, and visually breathtaking. Do not miss this experience in Pompei.
