The preferred get-away of the icons of the golden age of cinema, Hotel Il Pellicano sparkles with timeless glamour, evoking the flair of La Dolce Vita. Magical views, romantic history and soulful staff come together in an atmosphere of understated luxury to make you feel like at home. Located among the peace and tranquility of Italy’s Argentario coast, the hotel offers an exclusive selection of suites and rooms located in either the villas or the main building. From spectacular sea views over the Tuscan archipelago, to the tranquility of lush gardens through to sophisticated interiors.
After an experience in Paris, Michelino Gioia, a Campanian with a weakness for Tuscany, returned to work with the Sciò family, enriched by a new conviction, namely the importance of working by reduction: few ingredients, therefore, but capable of enhancing the taste making it the sole and undisputed protagonist of the table. In his cuisine we find different consistencies and strong flavors, embraces between land and sea, imaginative interpretations of tradition. With its terrace overlooking the sea and the scent of rosemary in the air , Il Pellicano is one of the most romantic addresses in Italy, enhanced by the friendly and professional service offered by the numerous staff.

3 months agoI have been to many 5 star hotels & this is not a 5 star hotel— I give it 3.8 out of 5. All staff on site were friendly, but I believe it’s the management team that needs to remind employees and most of all THEMSELVES to check up on guest refills, pool/beach towel changes, & most of all, not making up lies. All guests at the pool the days I spent, all complained about the temperature. Staff would say it’s 23•C or 26, when in reality it was a cold winter’s day type of temp; very ridiculous. When you are talking about a 5 star resort, you are referring to constant on-foot service & guaranteed service; actually, Above & Beyond commitment. Not sure why the rooms are around 1,500 per night - nothing amazing, cracks on the wall, needs new paint. The phone on the night stand did not work, none of the buttons worked. The food is average; pizza that anyone in the world can produce, they require a 24/7 notice - it’s pizza, not a 4-tier wedding cake. Lastly, when I think of a 5 star resort, I think we can all agree that amenities and shuttle service are always expected on site. The location of the hotel is kind of far out. To get to a town or a Tuscan wine adventure for a day, the hotel has no real tour service connection for guests nor any shuttles. Again, I’ve been at 5 star hotels & have seen them provide this type of service.

3 months agoA hidden gem. Part private villa and part hotel. This must be one of the most beautiful places on the coast of Italy. Pristine Mediterranean water for swimming, two star Michelin dining, attentive hotel service, private living quarters scattered throughout the beautifully manicured property. This might be one of the top three places I've ever had the pleasure of staying at.

5 months agoSpectacular location, lovely simple rooms, really nice sea side sun lounge set up, beautiful swimming, very friendly team. Lunch closes at 2.00 which is odd for a summer holiday hotel in Italy and the restaurant and beach service, while very friendly isn’t as attentive as you might expect for a hotel in this price bracket.

5 months agoI am extremely disappointed and perplexed by the rude and disrespectful behavior I encountered at this hotel by one of the staff. Despite raising my concerns with the management, no action or follow-up was taken. Although the hotel claims to prioritize guest experience, my stay was unfortunately marred by a lack of respect. Additionally there was a mistake in our invoice when we were checking out. In summary, it would’ve been a great experience if the management had followed up after I raised my concerns and tried to provide a more authentic experience at this hotel.
