7 months agoIf you are willing to pay an extra you will have a wonderful experience. In our opinion the extra even seems justified considering the location even though it’s pretty pricey. That said, the location ist absolut stunning, the restaurant is very nicely designed, the food is of very high quality and the service was very attentive and good. Especially the Tagliolini Ragu and the Bollito Mare Crostacei was excellent. The Veal was also very good, I just felt like I should have done for fish. If you prefer meat it’s still a great option. We will certainly come back and enjoyed our dinner very much. Thank you

7 months agoThe lobster and shellfish pasta with bottarga and saffron was the best thing I've eaten this year, and the oysters were fresh and delicious! The service was excellent. The live music added to the magical atmosphere. The bill for two, including a bottle of Ruinart, came to around 500 euros, which felt like great value for the experience. Thank you so much-we'll definitely be coming back!

2 years agoMy friends and I were looking forward to enjoying the dining experience AND the food as the restaurant has a bit of a glamorous history from my research. The outdoor patio was very nice, especially at sunset, but it can get hot with the sun shining on your table before it goes down completely. At this price point/the location/reputation, I guess it's not so much about the value you get with the food. The seafood was fresh & all the dishes were tasty. So, from that perspective, the restaurant delivered on the food. We were let down by the service. The good - our hotel mixed up the dates & the hostess was very professional and gracious in finding us a table. Not so good - it all went a bit downhill from there. The captain that did the seating grumbled while setting up our table & gave us a look like we were clueless tourists. After getting seated, one of the hosts (not a manager, mind you) made it a point to come by & subtly let us know he made us a favor even though he wasn't the one we worked with directly. When we were given the menu, the main wait person was a bit snooty and acted like we may not be able to afford some items on the menu. My friend, who was paying for the dinner, had a Crazy Rich Asian moment and ordered everything off the menu. Guess they got the hint. The manager came by to welcome us & they changed staff who were much more pleasant & easier to engage with. After the meal, the earlier experiences still left a bit of undesirable aftertaste & we decided to skip dessert. We went for gelatos in the mall instead :-) What a shame. We had such an amazing experience at Le Grand restaurant the previous night that we were hoping for a two out of two.

6 months agoWe were very welcomed to enter this restaurant even without a booking and they seemed fully booked. It was an unplanned visit and so we even felt under-dressed as we were wearing jeans and flip flops! We were surprised but happy that we were welcomed in, but I think I now know why - becasue of the money they get from each and every customer! When we were asked what we wanted to drink, I said a glass of wine. I was then tried to be over-sold a half a bottle instead of a glass as a half a bottle I was told was only 2 glasses. After being asked IF i wanted to see the wine list (rather than just ordering through recommendation of the waiter), I was shown a page with wine options and numbers next to them. To be quite honest I really didn't know what these numbers meant ! Until I subtly asked a couple of questions and found out they were prices! Half a bottle of wine started at 200 euros. I then looked to order just a glass, and they started at 40 euros. I wanted to cry. I felt trapped. My husband told me to just embrace it as we were there now, it was a beautiful place and location, and we couldn't just get out and leave. I had been in Porto Cervo for 10 days aleady and eaten/drunk in some very prestigious places but not paid more than 20 euros for a glass of wine. My husband was going to order a cocktail but changed his mind when he saw the 40 euros prices. Instead he had a beer. Water was 12 euros. An espresso was 6 euros. Cost of food wasn't bad for the type of restaurant, it was drink and extras you get burnt by. Quality of food however was absoluetly not up tp scratch (maybe unless you order lobster etc). I ordered a sea bass fillet and asked if I could swap the mashed potato for a pasta (as I really wanted to eat pasta in italy and hadn't done so enough ). After checking with the chef, I was asked whether a "white pasta" would be ok. I had no idea what a "white pasta" was but seeing as we were in such a prestigious restaurant, I thought it would be absolutely fine! I was wrong. It was a nightmare. I cannot believe the chef served such a dish! He served me the fish with veg. etc. without the mashed potoato, And about 5 minutes later a bowl of the cheapest supermarket spaghetti was brought to me. Dry and nothing on it, sticky and even cold. Wow. Anyway, summary - Great service, Great location, poor quality food, super expensive / way over priced drinks and extras.

7 months agoOverall, I would not recommend to anyone and would never come back. The prices were absolutely absurd and that’s coming from a New Yorker — basic cocktails are 37 euro; gin tonics cost 40 euro (tonic water is $15 alone); pasta was minimum 40 euro; water is 12; the list goes on — the service was curt and unless you’re spending several thousand dollars on dinner, you’re basically ignored. We got there before the rush and our pastas took 90 minutes to come out — and one came out cold!—, and that was only after we reminded them. They never removed a cocktail we sent back — after I specifically requested something that wasn’t sweet and he recommended an incredibly sweet cocktail — and ultimately we cancelled our main entrees due to the complete apathy of everyone working there. Only one waiter helped us get our check after asking 3 different times. If you’re looking for a nice dinner in Porto Cervo, skip this spot.
