La Terrazza Restaurant is the signature restaurant of the legendary Hotel Splendido in Portofino. The hotel was originally a monastery, but was abandoned by the monks due to Saracen pirates already in the 16th century. Baron Baratta rebuilt the monastery into his summer palace in late 19th century and the property was sold to Ruggiero Valentini who in 1905 opened up the lavish luxury hotel that still is considered a must for everyone who is someone.

La Terrazza Restaurant offers one of the best restaurant views in the world. When dining at the terrace you have endless views of the Mediterranean and breathtaking views over Portofino Bay and the Tigullio Gulf. Lush greenery surrounds you when you sit at the terrace amazed by the unbelievable beautiful views. You can dine outside for most of the year, but the very best is during spring and early autumn. You can have a more formal dinner experience inside in the main dining room seating 120 guests as well, but we will never miss an opportunity to spend an evening at La Terrazza’s enchanted terrace.

Service was friendly and the food was yummy but you pay for the history and the ambiance and it’s well worth it. I tried the Elizabeth Taylor pasta which is literally dry pasta with three textures of tomatoes and certainly the most expensive pasta I’ve ever had for what it was but to dine where so many other glamorous Hollywood celebrities regularly dined with a stunning blue view of the sea (as dictated by all of the photos hanging in the lobby) well, you can’t really put a price on that

Incredible experience! Went for my 30th birthday with all my close family including my 1 year old nephew and the staff couldn’t have been better! Unbeatable view and setting looking over Portofino. Food was very good but you do pay for the setting and the experience….and it is 100% worth it!

My wife and I went to La Terrazza yesterday in order to enjoy a beautiful lunch above the Portofino coast, featuring, quite possibly, one of the most stunning and spectacular views that you can find! Having said that I was rather surprised to find an Olivier salad, one of the Russian Federation‘s national dishes, in my Vitello Tonnato. Upon asking the exceptionally professional and kind staff for the reason behind this inexplicable hommage to a country that has been leading a war of aggression, actively seeking to destabilise Europe as well as its democratic values; the answer was that it was added as an ode to the myriad of Russian guests. In times of political turmoil, I would expect more moral and political tactfulness and less opportunism from an institution like Splendido. Therefore I would like to ask the restaurant to clearly distance itself from everything Russian, as it is simply offensive to those that possess of the necessary acumen to understand that the alteration of the dish is meant to attract Russian tax payers, financing a war on our values and European brothers and sisters in Ukraine. I sincerely thank you for taking into consideration my feedback!

I took the ferry in from Santa Margherita. Once you get off the ferry you need to walk a little bit and wait in front of a pharmacy for a shuttle pick up to take you to the hotel. The shuttle comes every 10-15 minutes. It also has wifi in the shuttle! The ride is quick (about 5-7 minutes) and the driver was super friendly. I made a reservation for 1pm right when they opened and I’m so happy I did! It was really nice and quiet in the restaurant and the views are absolutely incredible. I ordered a water, wine, a starter and a main. They serve you some bread/grissini sticks as well. The salad was beyond incredible. The quinoa chips were so good, the flavours of the salad and presentation were unforgettable. The main I ordered was the Tigullio fish mixed grill. I didn’t even know what I ordered when I ordered it but it was incredible. It was literally every kind of fish that’s in the sea below that they serve. Lobster, swordfish, shrimp, squid, octopus, crab and a few others. I didn’t know how to remove the shell from the fish so I asked the staff to do it for me which they did with no questions! It also came with a side of grilled vegetables which were a bit warm. They weren’t great. I didn’t order dessert because I was so full but the staff were kind enough to give me a few sweets at the end anyway! Great service, yet sometimes slow and there was a bit of a language barrier at times however the experience was lovely and I would recommend it for sure.

The view of Portofino from the resturant is beyond amazing. You simply cannot do scribe how beautiful the sunset is from the terrace while drinking a class of wine and eating dinner. The food was also amazing some of the best pasta that I have ever eaten. The only reason I do not give is 5 stars is the very slow speed of response after a request from the staff. We were not greeted by our waiter for at least 20 minutes after sitting down and it took at least another 20 minutes for our wine to arrive. After that the meal progressed smoothly until we requested our check where again we had to request twice and took over 30 minutes.
